STEAM Education Worksheets for KG students
What is STEM?
You've possibly heard the term STEM before, but what does it
stand for? STEM is basically an acronym for Science, Technology, Engineering,
and Math. These 4 fields focus on innovation, critical-thinking, and problem
solving. Together these make up a fast-growing and popular industry.
What Are STEM Fields?
STEM consists of the following major areas of study:
- Natural, physical, and life sciences
- Computer, electronics, and other technology-related disciplines
- All types of engineering
- Mathematics or any field involving an application of mathematical principles
Why Is STEM Important?
As the society gets advanced, the need for STEM professionals continues to grow. Many schools are providing after-school club STEM courses to the students. STEM based education focuses on hands-on-learning with real world applications and also helps to develop the essential skills set regarding creativity and 21st Century skills.
What is STEAM?
STEAM is an advanced term of the arts and sciences. Science,
Technology, Engineering, the Arts and Math are involved in this. Through this
advanced interest students are able to use and exercise both (left and right)
sides of their brain at once.
Why is STEAM Education Important?
STEAM education teaches students to think critically and
more creatively.
The educational institutions these days are working more on
developing critical thinking, creativity, problem solving and decision making
to the students.
Scientists of the next generation will need to develop their
communication skills through writing, speaking, illustrating, animating,
videography, model building and cartooning etc.
STEM vs. STEAM
Before STEAM, there was STEM. STEM just got more advanced to
STEAM by the addition of Arts.
Why the “A” as Arts in STEAM Education is Important?
The addition of Arts in STEM involves applying Arts in real
situations. STEAM Educations healps in increasing critical thinking and understanding
the connection of Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Math.
By developing their critical thinking, they’ll have the
ability to see a problem from various point of views and find multiple
approaches to solve the problem.
Students at the early age should practice STEAM by doing
multiple STEAM experiments and solving the relevant worksheets. This will
encourage them to ask more questions and explore their interests.
